Polish Air Navigation Services Agency upgrades ATC Simulation network
Micro Nav upgrades ATC training environment to latest BEST
Micro Nav Limited has successfully completed the upgrade of the ATC Simulator, incorporating its BEST ATC Solution and 3D Image Generator software packages, for the Warsaw based Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA). Simultaneously, a hardware refresh was undertaken by PANSA themselves to upgrade the PCs across the entire network to the latest specifications. The project was completed on schedule and to budget.
The installation, undertaken in early February, comprises a total of 24 Radar Controller and 16 Tower Controller training positions, together with 30 Pseudo Pilot positions to enable multiple simultaneous training scenarios to be undertaken in parallel. This provides various training requirements and exercises from ab-initio to refresher and validation purposes.
PANSA awarded the initial installation contract in 2010. This comprised a system including five 3D Tower simulator installations (one x 360° and four x 180°), as well as a Radar Simulator, with over 70 BEST nodes and Image Generators. This original system was installed to provide training for more than a dozen polish airfields.
Work on the software upgrade and preliminary acceptance testing was carefully scheduled in order to cause minimum impact to PANSA’s busy ongoing programme of pre-booked training and re-validation exercises. BEST has been used for a number of weeks before passing formal acceptance testing in early April. System training focussed on BEST’s new features and follows the final acceptance testing program.
Sales and Marketing Director, Michael Saunders said, “We are delighted that PANSA has upgraded its simulation training environment to the latest BEST package. We have worked closely with PANSA for several years, where Micro Nav has demonstrated the leadership, technical vision and customer understanding that builds strong, long standing relationships. We look forward to supporting PANSA for many years to come”.
Janusz Sokolowski, Operational and Technical Support for Training Manager at PANSA said, “The latest version of BEST offers increased functionality that will enable us to develop our simulation exercises and provide an improved training capability. The flexibility of Micro Nav during the upgrade process allowed us to carry on with our training program without any interruption. “
