NATS retain ATS contract with London Luton Airport

NATS, the UKs leading provider of air traffic services and solutions, has won the contract to provide services to London Luton Airport.
The deal, which will see NATS continue to provide tower and engineering services, is for three years. The contract was won following an open market tender process.

Richard Deakin, NATS Chief Executive Officer, signed the contract while at the Airport Operators Association annual conference. Richard said: We are delighted to be continuing our close relationship with London Luton Airport and it is especially pleasing to have won this contract following a competitive process. It shows that NATS offers an outstanding service and excellent value for money.

High quality air traffic management is vital to the safe, smooth and efficient running of any airport, helping to minimise delays while maximising available capacity. NATS has years of experience in providing exactly that.

In 2011, London Luton Airport carried 9.5 million passengers with NATS controllers handling 99,296 flights making it the fifth busiest airport in the UK. The contract award means NATS will continue to provide air traffic management services to all five major London airports. It also maintains the London Terminal Manoeuvring Area, one of the most complex and busiest areas of airspace in the world.

Glyn Jones, Managing Director of London Luton Airport, said: Our congratulations to NATS for retaining the contract to provide air traffic services at London Luton, we look forward to building on our good working relationship to ensure the continued safe and efficient running of air traffic services at the airport.
