SELEX Sistemi Integrati wins a contract in Colombia for ATC systems upgrading
SELEX Sistemi Integrati, a Finmeccanica company, was awarded a contract by the Aeronautica Civil de Colombia, for the upgrading of the radar system set in Cerro Maco, near San Jacinto, in the region of Bolivar.
The contract, which has a value of about 5,2 milion euros, refers to the hardware and software upgrading of the ATCR 22M primary radar and the SIR-M secondary radar.
The solid state technology which will be implemented into the primary radar, will make it possible to avoid the spare parts obsolescence, while the secondary radar upgrading will allow the management of much more information and data exchanged with the airplanes, so enhancing the performance of air traffic surveillance and the flights security.
The upgrading activity will last nine months and includes the relevant logistic support.
SELEX Sistemi Integrati has been in Colombia for about 30 years and has provided about the 80% of the air traffic management systems placed into the Colombian airports.
The Finmeccanica companys presence has been further reinforced by the navaids sold from 1991 on by SELEX Systems Integration Inc., the US subsidiary of SELEX Sistemi Integrati.
