Available now, Terma AIR offers an affordable air traffic display system as hot standby for main radar display at ACC's, for small- to mediumsized airports as well as for integrated radar and ADS situation display for full surveillance
The Terma TERADS TOWER solution offers an excellent radar display system at an affordable price, the ideal choice for small- to medium-sized airports.
TERADS TOWER provides air traffic controllers with the ability to monitor traffic on final approach and traffic in the vicinity of the airport, to establish radar separation between departures, between departures and arrivals, and between departures and missed approaches. This results in better utility of air space while maintaining safety. Other beneficial outcomes are better flight paths and improved operation efficiency.
TERADS BACKUP Radar Display System is designed to eliminate the stress of the air traffic controller, and enhance air traffic security in case of a main system outage.
TERADS BACKUP is a hot standby system, running 24/7, 365 days a year receiving live data continuously in parallel with the main system. The backup display is available instantly by the press of a button. Display path as well as radar data processing are completely independent of the main system. This eliminates the risk of having a common point of failure. TERADS processes flight plans received through the main system. Simple creation of local flight plans enables TERADS to handle air traffic even when the main system is down.
TERADS BACKUP was developed together with ATC controllers and has a highly customizable user interface, making TERADS recognizable to the controllers during main system failure.
TERADS integrates many sources of information and presents them on the work stations screen in the way the controller wants it. The Windows-based user interface features Picture-in-Picture screen view, map creation, replay functionalities, and many other user options.
TERADS BACKUP provides a fast and reliable backup for the main radar display at an attractive price. The system has been deployed in centers in Denmark and Norway.
TERADS Radar and Automatic Dependent Surveillance (RADS) situation display system offers full air traffic surveillance at an affordable price.
With TERADS RADS, it is possible to track air traffic outside radar range, or in situations when radar coverage is insufficient. The lack of surveillance could lead to incidents and delay alert service and rescue operations if accidents occur. RADS can use satellite technology and does not rely on line-of-sight to track air traffic outside radar coverage.
TERADS RADS enables automatic reporting of aircraft position to air traffic control centers as well as automatic alert of abnormal descend. This reduces the workload of pilots and ATC personnel, and enhances overall air traffic safety.
The TERADS RADS provides seamless transitions between radar and ADS surveillance. As soon as the aircraft crosses the bounds of normal radar coverage, the display is updated according to the incoming ADS data from the aircraft.
Today, the TERADS RADS has become the main tool for air traffic controllers in the offshore sector in Norway where helicopters operating on oil rigs in the North Sea regularly fly outside of radar coverage.
Radar Display System for Small- to Medium-Sized Airport Towers
Integrated Radar and ADS Situation Display for Full Surveillance
Hot standby system for main radar display at area control and approach centers and airport towers
TERADS is an integrated radar data processing and display system that has been designed and built to enhance air traffic surveillance at air control towers and centers.
TERADS is flexible, customizable, fault tolerant and fast, providing air traffic controllers with a perfect overview of traffic situation as well as all relevant air traffic data.
TERADS has seamless transition between radar and ADS data, GPS time sync, map creation functionalities, safety net (MSAW, STCA) and simple flight plan creation.
The TERADS setup also features playback facilities and system monitoring. Furthermore, TERADS has all the standard functionalities of a radar display system including pan, off center, Picture-in-Picture QDM/QDR, and vectors.
With an affordable pricing and low implementation and maintenance costs, TERADS stands out as an advanced and reliable system that meet customer objectives as well as budget limits. Built on the PC Windows platform, the TERADS technologies will fit into any existing configuration, allowing airports to implement an advanced radar surveillance solution. Today, TERADS systems are at work in many ATC towers and centers securing situational awareness and reliable information for air traffic controllers and pilots alike.
TERADS enhances air traffic surveillance.
The low product cost and easy implementation, as a result of being a standardized product built on a PC platform, contributing to a very affordable total project cost, means that small airports can now afford to install a radar situation display at their premises.
As a backup system, TERADS provides instant situation surveillance with all the salient ATC features when a main radar display system fails.
Throughout the research and development process, ATC controllers and software developers of Avinor have played a crucial and active part. Their first-hand experience in specification, purchase, development, test and validation, certification, deployment in ATC environment of all kinds, and their unlimited access to live ATC data including ADS tracks have been instrumental in the prototyping and testing of the end product. The result is a product with a full-fledged set of userfriendly functionalities that also meets financial and operational requirements. Continued improvements based on customer feedback and market needs will be made available with new product releases.
