Intelcan - Kuwait: Major contract for Navigational Aid Equipment
Intelcan signed a contract for the design, supply, installation, operation and maintenance of Navigational Aid Equipment for Kuwait International Airport.
This is one of Intelcan’s largest Navigational Aids contracts. The SKYNAV CAT II Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) will be supplied to improve the capacity, safety and accuracy of landing onto the two runways at the Kuwait International Airport. This modernization project is in accordance with the standards and requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The Civil Aviation of Kuwait said in a statement that its contract with Intelcan includes the design, supply, installation, operation and maintenance of system services and navigational aids for air traffic and supply of the latest aircraft landing systems.
The contract includes the supply of the latest DVOR/DME devices at Kuwait International Airport and Al Wafra, providing aircrafts with azimuth and distance to these locations. This will greatly improve the capacity, safety and accuracy of over flights in the airspace of Kuwait, according to the standards and requirements of the ICAO.
The project will provide an extensive training program, through courses in both Kuwait and Canada, for engineers of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Kuwait as well as 3 years maintenance Services in Kuwait.
This project is an important element in the modernization of Kuwait’s airspace and allows the Kuwait International Airport to contend with the on-going growth in traffic. Intelcan will implement the project over the next two and a half years.
